John Orchard is a Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician with a combination career in professional sport and sports administration, clinical sports medicine practice and research. He is a medical school graduate from University of Melbourne but has spent most of his career in Sydney. He has special interest areas in exercise prescription, muscle and tendon injuries, concussion in sport and sports cardiology. In research, he has an Adjunct Professor appointment through the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney, with general research stream being sports injury epidemiology and prevention and over 250 publications with an H-index of 50. He was the Chief Medical Officer for the 2015 Cricket World Cup and continues to work as the Chief Medical Officer for Cricket Australia. He has 20 years of experience working in various professional football codes. He has been on the Editorial board for both the American Journal of Sports Medicine and British Journal of Sports Medicine for the past decade.
