Dr Verena Tan
Senior Nutrition Scientist
Dr Verena Tan is a qualified dietitian with over 14 years of diverse experience in clinical dietetics, academia and nutrition research. She is currently the Senior Nutrition Scientist at a multi-national food company. Her major research interests are in cardiovascular nutrition, diabetes and insulin resistance as well as infant and maternal nutrition. In particular, she has a special interest in the emerging field of nutrigenomics and personalised nutrition.
Dr Tan completed her bachelor’s degree in nutrition with First-class Honours from the King’s College London, UK on a Singapore Public Service Commission Scholarship. She subsequently earned a master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney, Australia on a Ministry of Health scholarship. In 2016, she completed her PhD from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore on an A*STAR scholarship. Her doctoral (PhD) research focused on carbohydrate quality and ethnic variation in metabolic function and she has since authored over 14 scientific publications.
Dr Tan is a Registered Dietitian of Singapore with the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association, an Accredited Practising Dietitian with the Dietitians Association of Australia as well as an International member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
